In the evening, we gather for a welcome dinner, enjoying authentic Balkan cuisine before the adventure begins

Through the Serbian Heartland

Leaving Belgrade, we ride south, where the landscape transforms into rolling hills and winding roads. A highlight of the day is Ovčarsko-Kablarska Gorge, a breathtaking canyon lined with ancient monasteries and dramatic rock formations. The road continues through serene countryside and scenic lakes, leading us to Kragujevac, Serbia’s historic heart, where we settle in for the night.

Monasteries & Borderlands

The ride takes us deeper into Serbia’s rich history and rugged landscapes. A stop at Manasija Monastery, a medieval fortress-monastery hidden in the hills, offers a glimpse into the country’s past. From there, we continue east through Zaječar, before crossing into Bulgaria, where the surreal rock formations of Belogradchik await—a true natural wonder and the perfect backdrop for the night.

From Rocks to the Capital

Leaving the surreal Belogradchik Rocks, we ride through winding mountain roads and open valleys, making our way to Sofia, Bulgaria’s dynamic capital. A city where Roman ruins, Ottoman history, and modern energy collide, it offers plenty to explore—from the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral to its lively streets and café culture.

Over the Shipka Pass

Leaving Sofia, we carve through the Balkan Mountains, tackling the legendary Shipka Pass, a road of thrilling curves and rich history. A stop at the Buzludzha Monument, Bulgaria’s eerie yet iconic communist-era structure, adds a surreal touch to the journey. By afternoon, we arrive in Veliko Tarnovo, the medieval capital, where the Tsarevets Fortress and cobbled streets take us back in time.

Crossing into Romania

We leave Bulgaria’s medieval capital behind, riding toward the Danube River and crossing into Romania at Ruse. The road then leads us to Bucharest, Romania’s vibrant capital, where grand boulevards, historic landmarks, and a mix of old-world charm and modern energy await.

Bucharest at Leisure

Rest Day. A day to unwind and explore Bucharest, Romania’s dynamic capital. Wander through its historic Old Town, visit the imposing Palace of Parliament, or simply relax and soak in the city’s vibrant café culture. For those craving more adventure, optional rides and sightseeing await.

 

Into the Carpathians

Leaving Bucharest, we ride into the Carpathian Mountains, where history and legend meet breathtaking landscapes. A stop at Bran Castle, often tied to the Dracula myth, sets the stage before we continue to Curtea de Argeș, the gateway to some of Europe’s most legendary roads, where the real riding adventure begins.

Riding the Transfăgărășan

Today, we take on one of Europe’s most legendary roads the Transfăgărășan. With its endless twists, breathtaking altitude, and jaw-dropping scenery, this is a true rider’s dream. After conquering its curves, we continue through the heart of Transylvania, ending the day in Sebeș, a historic town surrounded by stunning landscapes.

Conquering the Transalpina

Another day, another legendary road. We take on the Transalpina, Romania’s highest and wildest pass, where every turn reveals breathtaking mountain views. Twisting through the Parâng Mountains, this route is pure riding bliss. Descending into Novaci, we continue to Târgu Jiu, home to Romania’s most famous open-air sculptures and a well-earned rest.

Iron Gates of the Danube

We ride through Romania’s scenic countryside, following the Danube River back into Serbia. A stop at the impressive Đerdap Dam, one of Europe’s largest hydroelectric projects, offers stunning views of the Iron Gates Gorge. Further along, we visit Lepenski Vir, an ancient archaeological site revealing secrets of Europe’s earliest civilizations. The day ends in Golubac, where the mighty Golubac Fortress stands as a sentinel over the Danube.

Return to Belgrade

The final stretch follows the Danube River, winding through Đerdap National Park before the road opens toward Belgrade. As we return to Serbia’s vibrant capital, there’s time to reflect on the incredible journey legendary roads, breathtaking landscapes, and the true spirit of adventure.
